Laminate Building

  • The right section of the Geometry section is where the user can build complex laminates. Up to now the number of sublaminates was equal to 1. ( No. of SL . = 1 )
  • Let us increase this to 5 . The program will stop awaiting information for your laminate. Populate the Lam ID table with the following 1,2,1,2,1.
  • On the bottom right you will see an examine Sublaminate or Full Structure option. Be sure that this is set to Full Structure . The user can examine individual sublaminates (Sublam 1 or 2 in this case) or examine at the entire structure (1/2/1/2/1) . The View option allows the user to look at laminate information such as, Mat ID, thickness, angle etc. Set this to the last option which is Structure .
  • You will see a color coded graph showing alternating green and red blocks. This is the laminate ID which corresponds to the colored strip underneath the sublaminate table. The user can have up to 5 unique laminates with each one having a unique color ID. Below the Lam ID table you will see the current thickness indicator. If the program is running without errors you should see 2.00 inches for the full laminate thickness.
  • The sublaminate and full structure selector option is a very important selector. All resultant properties, stresses and strains are plotted for whichever option is selected. The title at the top of all the result windows will show you what sublaminate is being examined or whether the full structure is being selected.
  • To look at the effective properties stresses and strains for each sublaminate, simply change the current Sub Laminate option to whatever sublaminate you are interested in.
  • Feel free to modify the number of sublaminates and Lam ID order to see new and interesting results.
