Composite cylinder design software

CCDS is an advanced software tool for design and analysis of both isotropic and anisotropic cylinders. CCDS (formally WIND v5) can be used to to predict internal stresses, strains, displacements and transient temperatures for laminated cylinders exposed to a wide variety of process and loading conditions. It is currently used as the primary design tool for composite over wrapped gun tubes for the U.S. Army under the Center for Composite Materials CMT program as part of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) initiative.

The program itself, developed by Dr. John Tierney, a research associate at the Center for Composite Materials, is designed to be as generic as possible, thus allowing the end user to explore many different materials, laminate configurations loading and temperature conditions in a real time environment. IBHVG2, the Army's interior ballistics for high velocity gun simulation, is also embedded into the the latest version of CCDS. This allows the user to design various gun tubes for various projectile and propellant systems.

The current CCDS software (v5.1) is available for download at this password protected secure location download. Please check back to this website for further upgrades.
