The armament theme area focuses on new uses of material
to develop lighter, more durable components. Needs and projects
for this theme area are developed in conjunction with ARL, ARDEC,
TARDEC, and Benet Laboratory.
- Design of Cylindrical Steel/Composite Hybrid Structures
- Material Selection, Design, and Analysis of High Temperature Insulation Materials
As part of the CMT program, generic design tools are being developed
and transitioned to government and industry. Industrial partners
include Materials Science Corp. (MSC, Fort Washington, PA) and SPARTA,
Inc. (San Diego, Calif.)
