Research Interests: Composite materials, simulation and design
of composites manufacturing processes, experimental mechanics, fracture
mechanics, residual stress and warpage analysis, joining, induction lamination,
automated tow placement, fusion bonding, software development for composite
manufacturing processes.
Executive Summary
Currently conducting on ongoing research program on design
and manufacture of composite overwrapped gun barrels for the U.S. Army.
Other areas of work include design and optimization of a continuous induction
based lamination processes for carbon based thermoplastics, development
of generic design tools for composite cylinder analysis, heat transfer
and quality development in the Automated Tow Placement process and development
of new processes for manufacturing composite based structures.
