Loading Data into CDS3.0
To load any data in CDS3, right clicking any entity in the tree menu and select the "Load" option. A dialog box will be opened and the menu tree will be split into two sections . Open a previously saved CDS3 data file and the data from that fill will be loaded into the top section. The user can then select any or all items and load them into the current environment.
Once the tab delimited text spreadsheet is loaded, the top menu tree is populated with all the information in the file. The user can then select some or all of this information in memory by right clicking and selecting "Load Selected", or "Load All".
Once loaded the data is appended to the end of the existing data in CDS3.0 and renamed if necessary so as to avoid conflict with existing data in CDS3.0
The loaded data remains in memory until the user either right clicks and selects "Clear" or "Close"
The load subtree has the same functionality as the main CDS3.0 data tree. Holding the shift or control keys to select subsets of data to load specific entities.
An example of a loaded set of data is shown to the right where a series of analysis are loaded from the formatted spreadsheet into CDS3. These analyses were created previously in CDS3 and saved to a file. Examples of such files are easy to create within CDS3 and some of these examples are available on the CDS3 help site download page

Saving Data from CDS3.0
Right clicking any entity allows the user to select "Save Selected" or "Save All". Depending on which option is chosen, the selected data or all data is then saved to a text spreadsheet file. The created file is tab delimited and can be opened in notepad or Microsoft Excel. If the file is saved with a *.xls extension then the file will be loaded into Microsoft Excel by default.
If you edit the material files in Microsoft Excel, be sure to save them as a tab delimited text file again as CDS3 reads data in this format. Saving the file as an excel spreadsheet will make it unreadable in CDS3.0.
Selectively saving a top level menu item such as "Materials" or "Laminates" will save all materials or laminates respectively.
